2020 by the Numbers

This seemed like a good year to look back. We wanted to reflect on what we were able to accomplish, despite the challenges we all faced in 2020. If it taught us one lesson, it is: Don’t stop marketing, even in the middle of a pandemic!

We always review our sales numbers in order to make projections for the year ahead. But to look back at our projects, and how we spent our time, was eye-opening, and a fun exercise.

At the beginning of the year, we were set to hit the ground running. We were finishing up several big projects, re-designing our website, and on-boarding new clients – things were great.

Then…like everyone else, we hit pause.

Our largest clients shut their doors, and we weren’t sure of our next step. Like many other businesses, we had to work remotely which is a challenge to the creative process.

Back in March and April, to keep our team engaged, we came up with a way to share our creativity. We offered to illustrate favorite quotes via instagram and share them on our channel. We got requests from 4 states, and 5 different countries! It was exciting to share some inspiration and creativity with everyone in isolation. See all the quotes here. We also ran an Instagram contest to promote our custom “Tranquility Box“.

Over the course of the pandemic, I reached out to our clients and contacts to offer them free brainstorming sessions. Our goal was to help provide some objectivity to businesses in need. That turned out to be a great way to stretch our creative thinking. Plus, we provided a helpful service for those who were struggling to come up with a way to pivot.

Our personal goal was to concentrate on our own marketing, and one pleasant consequence of the pandemic was the gift of time. We were able to focus more effort on our monthly newsletter. We wrote more blog posts and case studies. And spent more time growing our social media following, and on targeted outreach on LinkedIn.

Thankfully, it has resulted in several terrific new clients and opportunities. Which proves the theory: Don’t stop marketing, even in the middle of a pandemic!

We all look forward, with hope and continued optimism, to what 2021 will bring. I am still offering free brainstorming sessions for businesses who are in need of additional creative thinking. Contact us here.
