Epic Rights Website Redesign – Building Brands to Epic Proportions

Based in Los Angeles, Epic Rights is a full service global branding, licensing and social media marketing company dedicated to building celebrity and entertainment brands via its broad network of retailers, licensees and agents. It is largelyresponsible for exponentially growing the music licensing business into a multi-billion dollar a year empire.

Dell Furano, CEO of Epic Rights, started his first licensing company back in 1974 when he licensed Grateful Dead apparel and posters for local record stores and head shops. Forty years later, that roster now includes the Beatles, John Lennon, Madonna, U2, Kiss, Celine Dion, Woodstock and many others.

Epic Rights’ services are smart, deep and extensive. In addition to global brand management and licensing partnerships, one of the cornerstone of EP’s success is their relentless dedication to digital asset management. According to Lisa Streff, EVP Global Licensing, “”We have brand guides, design elements, poster art and really great creative branding tools.” They have placed a premium on developing fresh creative assets for partners and licensees.

Through ongoing creative partnerships and a genuine love for concert rock and pop culture, one of Epic Rights foundational goals is to connect brands with its fan base. They make it a priority to completely understand what the brand is all about and construct a unique marketing and brand extension strategy tailored to each artist. They want to give fans what they want and the rate by which its huge interactive fan communities keep growing, this strategy is working.

As Epic Rights secured more partnerships, its roster ballooned and their web site was having a tough time keeping pace with all the new additions. Our task was to help define the core offerings to all stake holders (artists, partners and licensees) while refining the branding message for Epic Rights.

Our challenge was to develop a site in such a way that it would allow their in-house staff to update it easily while maintaining the site’s clean esthetic. Often times when we turn over a site that we’ve thoughtfully designed to a client, it morphs into pages and graphics that don’t look like we initially intended. We solved this issue by creating custom mini page content management templates within the site that allowed our client to update it without negatively affecting the design. This saves our client money in the long run because they don’t have to come back to us for every little update.

The Results

We focused on providing an experiential web site with streamlined menus to help users navigate the vast landscape of music brands available while keeping the main content to one single scrolling page.

Each brand can be seen in all its creative glory: logos, media, sample production assets via Instagram feed and a full background image slider. There is a dedicated page for each artist that matches their individual brand and connects users to their social media easily on the same page.

Artist services are clearly presented to attract potential new brands and provides sellable key points to licensees. Dramatic concert images completely support the theatrical experience. You can feel the energy emanating from the stage!

Its business network may be vast but the Epic Rights mission is simple: maximize earnings for its clients through strategic alliance and scalable execution of marketing and distribution programs. They are able to accomplish this by thoroughly understanding its formidable client roster and the global marketplace, while harnessing the power of social media marketing.

We could not be happier with the results. Visit EpicRights.com and Rock On!
