Project Background

Castle Importing is a full spectrum producer of Extra Virgin and Pure olive oils. When it was time to re-design the packaging for their Segesta Sicilian Olive Oil line, they contacted The Graphic Element to develop a design solution to portray this very high quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil and make it pop on the shelves of specialty stores. White Truffle Oil and Lemon Olive Oil were later added to complete the Segesta line.

Our Solution

Our design challenge was to create an authentic, old world Sicilian look to the label. The somewhat plain bottle shape was not able to change, so we decided to create dimension and visual interest by diecutting, as well as adding gold foil accents to the label. We illustrated an authentic scene adding all the elements specific to this area of Italy. The Doric Temple that is the landmark of Segesta was a focal point of the illustration. Look for the authentic decorated Sicilian cart on the label which is also a detail specific to the region.
